Why Slu Law

Scott Hall is located 2 miles from SLU`s main campus, in the middle of exciting downtown St. Louis. Saint Louis University`s Faculty of Law offers a diverse program that prepares our students for all areas of legal practice. The majority of the 91 credit hours required for the Young Girls diploma are electives. This design allows students to tailor their legal education to their individual needs and interests. In-house clinics, internships, court rotations and public service programs offered by legal clinics have a number of resources to meet your educational needs. Undergraduate institutions represented in the 2020 entry class take four final exams each semester, one for each class, with the exception of legal research and writing. All other students plan their own exams. Typically, the review period lasts two weeks; Graduates have to take exams in less time.

Students can choose to enter their exams on laptops or write by hand. As in most other law schools, examinations are scored according to a curve determined by the section. The school has three academic law journals published by students: we offer four concentrations, 10 dual study programs, three centers of excellence, comprehensive professional training, and unprecedented opportunities for public service. The Centre`s extensive curriculum offers a range of courses dealing with the rights and obligations of employers and employees, including the prohibition of discrimination; establishing collective bargaining relationships in the private and public sectors; worker regulation, occupational health and safety benefits; and arbitration and mediation of labour and labour disputes. To earn a certificate in labor law, students take 11 hours of approved courses in the field of employment and, in addition to a JD degree, write a publishable quality article on a labor law topic. All students in the certificate program take the Fundamental Rights course. The Centre strengthens students` engagement with critical issues in employment law by presenting lectures that explore important current issues in the field. Each year, the student-sponsored association and advocacy center offers a variety of after-school programs for students.

Students who have appeared before the MO Court of Appeal and the MO Supreme Court since 2010 The Centre for International and Comparative Law promotes international law at the Faculty of Law. Faculty members teach pragmatic and theoretical courses such as international law, international trade, multinational corporate responsibility, international taxation, comparative law, immigration law, comparative criminal law, gender rights, and international human rights. Lecturers and practitioners are also invited to the school to discuss and teach.

Students have the right to obtain a certificate from the Centre, as well as to study abroad in Madrid, Berlin, Orleans, Paris, Bochum and Cork. The center also has a Jessup Moot Court team that advanced to the semifinals of the Southwest Super Regionals in Houston, Texas in 2009 and won third place for best letter overall. The Faculty of Law offers 8 dual degree programs in partnership with other SLU colleges and schools, allowing students to earn two degrees in much less time (4-5 years) than if they were earned separately.
